About Wayne Suhrbier
Wayne is a knifemaker and blacksmith who has been doing various types of metalwork since his introduction to it in 1993. After studying chemistry in college, Wayne decided to change career paths and became a certified welder. Prior to moving to Alabama in 2000, Wayne worked as a TIG welder. Once he relocated to Tuscaloosa, Wayne discovered the world of custom knives and quickly knew what he had to do. By making the most of available resources including books, the internet, and first-hand knowledge shared with him by other knifemakers and blacksmiths at hammer-ins, Wayne learned how to forge and grind knives. He has since honed his skills while creating custom knives for numerous interests and uses. While still chasing the flawless knife, he is enjoying the hunt. In June of 2011, Wayne acquired the company High Temperature Tools & Refractory. With his extensive experience with forge designs, relining, and materials, running High Temperature Tools & Refractory is a natural extension of Wayne's talents.
